Hi All,
I know this post is a little late, but I want to tell everyone Happy New Year!
I hope that everyone is *finally* done with their gift knitting for 2010. I just gifted my last obligation present last week, and I'm feeling much better. I adore knitting. I adore people. It would make sense that I should adore gift knitting. I do not. It seems that everytime I am knitting for someone else, I somehow mangle the project, or lose a piece, or the recipient really couldn't give a crumb that I spent hours making this gorgeous gift for him or her. I know a lot of you have had similar experiences, and most knitters I know have sworn off gift knitting. I have decided to do the exact opposite.
2011 is my year of gift knitting. Each month I will complete one knitted gift for someone on my gift list, and wrap it up then and there with the yarn tag/care instructions so that I can stare at it for months and convince myself that it's not good enough for the recipient. By the time December hits, I should have a nice pile of gifts, and sit back, relax, and eat gingerbread instead of stressing out.
If you'd like to join me in my quest to de-stress gift knitting, make a list of 12 gifts you'll knit or crochet, and vow to complete one each month. I'll update everyone at the end of each month what I've completed. I hope you all jump in too, because I'm already feeling much better about this.
I have a new Learn To Knit class coming up - January 19th, from 4 to 7. Call or stop in for details. Pre-registration is required. :D
